TYPES OF MOISTURE TESTING SERVICES

RAPID RH

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

Rapid RH® is an on-site concrete moisture testing system that measures relative humidity within the slab to accurately determine moisture conditions before flooring installation. It helps prevent flooring failures by ensuring the concrete is properly dried and ready.

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

VaporScore® Calcium Chloride testing measures the moisture vapor emission rate (MVER) from a concrete slab’s surface. This test helps determine how much moisture is being released over time, ensuring the slab is suitable for flooring installation and reducing the risk of future flooring issues.

TAYLOR 625 C.C

VAPOR SCORE C.C ASTM F1869

TAYLOR 625 C.C

Taylor® 625 Calcium Chloride testing accurately measures the amount of moisture (in lbs.) coming through the slab over a 1000 sq. ft. area during a 24hr. period. It helps determine if moisture levels are within acceptable limits before flooring installation, reducing the risk of adhesive failure and floor damage.

DO YOU NEED MOISTURE MITIGATION?

Moisture problems can lead to serious damage if left unchecked. Whether you're dealing with flooring, walls, or a concrete slab, identifying excess moisture early can save time and money. Here are some common signs that you may need a moisture test:

1. Visible Water Damage
Stains, discoloration, or dark patches on floors often indicate moisture intrusion. These marks usually mean water has already penetrated the material.

2. Warping or Buckling Materials
If wood floors, laminate, or other materials start to warp, swell, or buckle, excess moisture is often the cause. This is especially common in areas with poor ventilation.

3. Mold or Mildew Growth
A musty smell or visible mold is a strong indicator of high moisture levels. Mold thrives in damp environments and can pose health risks if not addressed.

4. Peeling or Bubbling Paint and Coatings
When moisture builds up beneath surfaces, it can cause paint, sealants, or coatings to peel, crack, or bubble.

5. Damp or Humid Indoor Conditions
If a space feels consistently damp or humid, even with proper ventilation, hidden moisture may be present in the structure.

6. Flooring Installation Issues
If you're planning to install new flooring especially over concrete a moisture test is essential. Excess moisture can cause adhesives and flooring to fail prematurely.

7. Efflorescence on Concrete Surfaces
A white, powdery residue on concrete surfaces is a sign that moisture is moving through the slab and bringing salts to the surface.

Moisture issues aren’t always visible, but they can cause significant damage over time. Knowing when to get a moisture test can help you prevent costly repairs, protect your property, and ensure a safe environment.

Before Installing New Flooring
One of the most important times to perform a moisture test is before installing flooring—especially over concrete. Excess moisture can weaken adhesives, cause warping, and lead to premature failure of materials.

After Water Damage or Leaks
If your property has experienced flooding, plumbing leaks, or roof damage, a moisture test helps confirm whether hidden moisture remains behind walls or beneath surfaces.

When You Notice Warning Signs
Signs like musty odors, mold growth, peeling paint, or warped materials often indicate excess moisture. Testing can identify the source and severity of the problem.

During Property Inspections
Moisture testing is a smart step when buying, selling, or maintaining a property. It can reveal hidden issues that may not be visible during a standard inspection.

In High-Humidity Areas
Bathrooms, basements, kitchens, and laundry rooms are more prone to moisture buildup. Regular testing in these areas can help prevent long-term damage.

After Construction or Renovation
New builds and renovations often involve materials that retain moisture, such as concrete, drywall, and wood. Testing ensures everything has properly dried before finishing work is completed.

Moisture may seem like a small issue, but it can lead to major problems if ignored. Excess moisture can weaken materials, damage flooring, and compromise the structural integrity of a building over time. What starts as a minor concern can quickly turn into costly repairs.

Moisture also creates the perfect environment for mold and mildew to grow. This not only damages surfaces but can also affect indoor air quality and pose health risks to occupants.

For flooring and construction projects, moisture is one of the leading causes of failure. Adhesives may not bond properly, materials can warp or buckle, and newly installed surfaces may deteriorate much sooner than expected.

By conducting a moisture test at the right time, you can identify hidden issues early, prevent long-term damage, and ensure your materials perform as they should. It’s a simple step that protects your investment, your property, and the people inside it.
